Communications Ministry Training Program will bring training in seven areas to you, including Local Church Communications.

“For us as Christians, communication takes on another dimension beyond the mere ‘push’ and ‘pull’ of everyday information and interaction. Our communication as Christians is expressly designed to draw people into relationship with one another and with God. It is the specific content or message of our communication that makes the difference as we endeavor to communicate the gospel of God’s love for each person and God’s desire to be in relationship with us. And this very precise form of communication becomes a ministry for the local church."

Local Church Communication Ministry can effectively reach out and bring people into a relationship with others and God.

As such, it can:

  * Share the story of United Methodists and your local church with the world

  * Create an image of United Methodism and the local church for the community

  * Build community and fellowship within the local church

  * Promotes opportunities and resources on a variety of levels

  * Maintain two-way communication with the local church and the
     community

  * Provide information the local church needs to make informed decisions

In its broadest sense, local church communications is the sum total of everything the local church does, says and shows. Condensed into one goal:   local church communication works with all of the other ministries of a local church to reach out and bring people into a relationship with each other and God.  It is our single greatest evangelism tool!

United Methodist Communications and the New Mexico Annual Conference will be working together to bring this and a variety of training opportunities to the churches within our Conference.

The Communications Ministry Training Program is a partnership of United Methodist Communications and the Annual Conferences of The United Methodist Church. Together, we will bring training to local churches in seven areas: Local Church Communications, Web Ministry, Our United Methodist Connection and Promotion of Giving, Rethink Church, Media Spokesperson and Crisis Communications, Welcoming and Local Church Marketing.

The NM Conference Communications Office will be working to put together a training team that will be available to conduct trainings throughout the Conference. We will be seeking requests for the various trainings and will work with districts to determine where and when to conduct trainings.

Highlights from the various trainings will be included on the Conference website, and  Information about training sessions will be shared as it becomes available.
