Several Churches participated in the New Mexico Nets for Mulungwishi Basketball Tournament on Saturday April 24, 2010, at St. John’s United Methodist Church, at 2626 Arizona Street NE in Albuquerque. The purpose of this event was to raise funds for the Conference Mission Project through which the NMAC is attempting to raise $157,550 for the purchase of mosquito nets for the people of Mulungwishi, which will help stop the spread of malaria there.
Kudos to Reuben Thomas (505-293-9673, ext. 107 or ) for organizing this great event for NM Nets for Mulungwishi!
From First UMC, Albuquerque, Pastor David Okerberg writes:
" First UMC had fun at the Hoops event, and people “sponsored” Jeb and myself as to the baskets that we made. So, even though Jeb and I only “batted” .500 –[we each made five out of ten], with the other BB players we raised approx. $350. We are now over our goal of $10.00 per average worship number! We have raised approximately $3700.00 and money is still coming in.
Kudos to Ruben at St. Stephens for the Hoops event. Also, Roberta Marquez made some creative and fun announcements in church concerning the project and that has really helped. "
