Description:
People are often in leadership positions at the local church, positions that require skills in making financial decisions . Yet, this is probably the area in which most leaders feel least comfortable. In this class we will discuss guiding scriptures, finances in the secular world vs in a church setting, creating solid financial policies, and staying in compliance with federal, state, and local laws. Participants will learn how to read and understand the financial statements that are prepared by the bookkeeper, as well as how to spot potential financial disasters. Participants will also learn how clergy compensation works. A multitude of resources in easy-to-understand language will be provided. Bring your church finance and stewardship questions, as this will be an interactive class format.
Clergy are welcome to attend as well, as this is information they never taught in Seminary.
