After nearly a decade without a conference-wide college gathering, students from three New Mexico Campus ministries gathered in March for “A listening heart,” a weekend retreat at Sacramento Camp. Sponsored by the Board of Higher Education and Campus Ministry and with support from a generous grant from the Conference Endowment Committee, the retreat brought together 28 students and adults from ENMU, NMSU, and UNM. Throughout the weekend, students shared meals, laughter, meaningful conversations, and recreation while exploring the themes listening to our hearts, listening to one another, and listening for God.

The retreat was led by Rev. Paul Escamilla, a retired pastor from the Houston area, who guided students through meaningful reflections, group discussions, and worship. For many students, it offered a rare opportunity to gather with peers from other campuses and form new friendships. A big thank you to Board of Higher Education, the Endowment Committee, as well as Rev. Lisa Blaylock who spearheaded renewed college retreats in New Mexico Conference.
