Our annual conference theme this year is “RE”, as in REfresh, REmember, REclaim…

The New Mexico Annual Conference will begin next week starting on Wednesday, June 12th at 9:00 am. We will begin with Opening Worship. One of the noticeable differences will be that this year annual conference will be held at St. John’s UMC-ABQ rather than a convention center or hotel. We may be a bit “cozy” but the planning team is hoping for a more worshipful experience. Approximately, 260 people have registered for the conference.

Among the most important pieces of business to be brought before the Conference are: Sacramento MOU, District Re-alignment, CF&A proposed rules changes, nominations, and more. We will also hear from our General & Jurisdictional Conference Delegation regarding what transpired at GC20, held in April.

General Secretary of the General Board of Archives and History, Dr. Ashley Boggan D. has become one of the most popular speakers on the annual conference circuit. We’re very fortunate to be able to have her with us. She does a marvelous job of reminding us of our future to move forward into a bright future as the UMC. Rev Dr. Tanya Campen is our guest teacher who is an expert on ministry involving children. We will offer workshops again this year on Asset-Based Community Development, Alternate Income Streams for Churches and Healthy Congregations. Our Laity Session will feature a speaker who is familiar to the NMAC – Rev. Dr. Blair Thompson from TMF.

As usual the Ordination/Commissioning Service will be one of the highlights of our time together. The Service will be on Thursday evening at 7:00 pm MT. We will also celebrate our retirees and remember those who have passed this past year.

While this annual conference is packed with information and educational opportunities, we will also have plenty of time to REconnect and REfresh. We’ll pray, sing, eat and collaborate.

The business sessions and worship services will be livestreamed via St. John’s video channel.
