On October 19th, the Roswell area experienced “historic” amounts of rainfall, which caused terrible flooding in Chavez County. The National Guard was deployed to rescue stranded people and those in need. Many families are now displaced from their homes.

The Conference Office has been in contact with pastors in the area: Rev. Tina Cross at FUMC-Roswell and Rev. Young Kang at Trinity UMC-Roswell. Both have reported on the devastation in the area and their churches’ responses to the needs of the people there.

We know our people want to help. At this point, the greatest need is flood buckets. We will have drop off locations for both districts: St. Mark’s in El Paso and the ABQ Conference Office. For more information, CLICK HERE.

There are plans in place to offer aid in the coming days and months. We’ll keep you updated as we know more.

Most importantly, please keep the people in the Roswell area in your prayers. Folks in Ruidoso and Las Vegas continue to experience the results of flooding after the fires there – please lift them up as well.
