As you’re likely well aware, the Four Corners area has been inundated by terrible flooding. The impacted region extends across the corners of NM, AZ, UT and CO. Families have been evacuated from their homes or are cut off because of flooded roads. More rain is expected in the coming days. The devastation is such that bringing the community back to “normal” will necessitate a multi-year project. Your prayers are greatly needed.

Bishop Carlo and the NM Conference Staff have been coordinating with the various agencies, organizations and conferences involved to discern how we can best deploy our resources. NM Conference members are asking what they can do to help. This is a developing situation but for now, the best way to help is donating to the San Juan United Way. Click Here.

Also, flood buckets are needed. The graphic above shows what is included in a flood bucket. The cost is about $75 per bucket. The NM Conference Office is the drop-off location for flood buckets. If you have a large truck or trailer, we need drivers to take the 70 flood buckets we already have up to Shiprock. We expect to have more flood buckets soon. If you have questions or can transport buckets, please call Roselie Johnston at: 505-255-8786.

We’re asking mission groups who want to help to coordinate with the Conference before driving to the impacted area. There are other organizations in place who are currently doing the mucking out and recovery work. We want to be as organized and coordinated as possible as we discern next steps. Please call 505-255-8786 for more information.
